I grew up idolozing gen-x grunge rockers. They inspired me to write my own songs. It's darkly romantic that I share a birthday with the deaths of two of grunge's best frontmen. April 5, 1994 Kurt Cobain / Apr 5, 2002 Layne Stayley. I'll be posting some music as tribute. RIP🙏

Let's do this chronologically. 1st up, 1st albums AIC Facelift (1990). Most know the single Man in the Box, it's the song that catapulted them to the top. But this song to me hits all the beauty of AIC, especially that bluesy feel.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2maHkdezdEc …

If you want those ear worm type songs, it's definitely We Die Young and Bleed the Freak. I wore out the repeat button on my cd players listening to these two beauties. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6JA25BIxgtk …https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JCZPWTfw5OI …

On to Nirvana Bleach (1989). This is my fave of thier. Most know the song About a Girl cause they played it acoustically on their unplugged album. Kurt started the show "This song's off our first album, most people don't own it." Here's the studio versionhttp://tinyurl.com/yyl94635

My fave song on this album is Negative Creep. Bleach was the only full album without Dave Grohl on drums, and you can really hear Chad Channings use of double kick, something Dave never did. Also, such a nasty punk vibe to this one.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SkID1_eosJo …

Let's stick with Nirvana. Everyone knows the hits on Nevermind (1991) (SLTS / In bloom / Lithium) all top notch tracks. But I love 'Breed' best. It's got that signature sarcasm that Kurt was so great at including and boy does Dave bring it on the kit. http://tinyurl.com/ybbqe7yl

Back over to AIC, their second LP Dirt (1992) is my fave grunge album. It's perfect IMO. Just go listen to the entire thing. For released songs, it's gotta be "Down in a Hole." This is the brilliance of AIC, dual harmonies, dual tones, and heavy materialhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-v67LpSz6Ck …

Agree. AIC was _so_ much better than Nirvana.

I think for me it has to do with where they started. AIC came out the metal/rock community whereas Nirvana emerged from New Wave/Punk. Also, the dual harmonies of AIC and the blues chops of Jerry C cinch it for me. What's your fave track of theirs Geoffrey?

I agree with both statements. Although my name isn't Geoffrey (this is public, after all), my favorite is probably "Down in a Hole."

Trying hard to contain my outrage over this offensive tweet. Only consoled by the fact that, as far as 90’s bands go, it’s Pavement for the win.
