      Imagine a drug which, with no side effects, boosts IQ 10 points. Should it be a) Banned b) Sold c) Made freely available on NHS d) Put in the public water supply? Now, instead of a drug, ask analogous questions of an IQ-boosting gene which could be inserted in zygote genomes.

      Behavior genetics shows shared family env't has zero lasting effect on adult IQ, and that includes _every_ source of within-culture env'tl intervention that you mentioned. Surprising, but apparently true.

      Hypothetically: take identical twins. One grows up eating a balanced diet, regular exercise, top class education, etc. - the other eats fast food daily, no exercise at all, never went to school and got an education, used drugs frequently, etc. - there would be no IQ difference?

      The diet and exercise might make a small difference. Education will make none whatsoever.

      My problem is the “none whatsoever” or “zero lasting effect”. It’s hard for me to be so definitive on something that’s not that easy to test for. I do agree for the most part though.

      Education doesn't train the IQ in any way. It just uses it. And it'd be even better if we were using general intelligence which describes so much more and is 70% genetic. The rest is mostly random.

      Education comes in many forms. And to be so definitive with numbers like “70% genetic” is too dogmatic for me subjectively.
