The likelihood that two vast and disparate problems (climate change and economic inequality) just happen to be optimally solvable by the _same_ policy interventions is negligible. She has to prioritize and solve the X-risk; the other is relatively minor in terms of human welfare.

If she wanted to protect the environment, she would be looking to control immigration better. It is absolutely inevitable that every additional person added to population = more fossil fuel burned.

Climate change and environmental collapse IS an existential risk to humanity. It frustrates me enormously to see it used as a cover for a political agenda in this way. This, of all issues, NEEDS to be apolitical

I think she believes in it, but I also think that she has extreme and strong progressive political opinions. How could someone with such opinions not try to gain the obvious advantage of the political climate that climate change produces?

It's not about finding a good solution for climate change, it's about finding one that achieves other political goals.
