go to MBA school, take Finance 101. Money is a standard and a store of value, a medium of exchange, a unit of accounting. More convenient than barter, because it facilitates any transaction as long as both parties believe in and agree to the value assigned.

It makes for more efficient transactions. Replaced bartering of physical goods. The problem is the way the central bank manipulates it.
