I guess u can rightly say no coup has ever succeeded w/o controlling the media. In a violent coup the centers seized are in order political, media and military (it usually takes the military a few days to figure out which way is up, ya need the media to tell them)

One cannot succeed without the other. Bolsheviks proved the importance of media (sub for journalists) by including Telegraph and Newspaper outlets in the first wave of takeover targets.

I don't think the press has ever been so corporately unanimous in a Free country before. This kind of media monopolization usually only comes AFTER the dictator has assumed power.
