A person fighting against severe depression is like Gandalf fighting the Balrog while they're both plunging into the abyss. Anyone who can triumph over the depression earns my elevated respect. It's one of the hardest things that anybody ever does.

I think people are just afraid to do it, survival instinct, etc. I don't think they overcome depression.
