I wish there was more open public discussion about the harms of pornography, particularly on young people. There is a lot of moralizing from the anti-porn side which I think makes the discussion difficult, especially since feelings of shame already clog up open dialogue.

I highly recommend 'The myth of sex addition' and 'Ethical porn for d*cks' by
@DrDavidLey. Research says the harms of porn are vastly overblown by the anti-fap manosphere, and mostly driven by religiosity & sex-negative embarrassment.10 replies 14 retweets 103 likes -

Thanks Geoffrey! I wouldn't be surprised if the harms are overblown... but do you think there are any possible harms at all to porn consumption? If so, what do you think they might be?

The key thing is to distinguish between porn viewing, masturbation, and ejaculation. They may have different benefits and harms, but the anti-fap community is so sex-negative that they can't talk clearly about the differences.

It's also important to talk honestly about variation in porn use like frequency of use, duration of use, specific genres viewed, regular vs. VR porn., etc; and to make fair comparisons to other entertainment experiences like Netflix or Overwatch.

I think as Sarah pointed out earlier, this is a surprisingly hot topic of issue on men's forums / blogs (and not some feminist forum). There is something underneath this and it hasn't yet caught on in mainstream because young men are not likely to discuss this in open

I have no evidence for this but i suspect that porn is disproportionately harmful for men who have trouble getting laid. It exacerbates the root causes for their incapabilities. If a young man is having trouble getting sex i DO think he should stop watching porn.

I agree that lonely men would do better to read my 'Mate' book than to watch porn for the same number of hours....

Care to give us a brief suggestion what young men in such a predicament should do or how we could effectively address the issue? I thought jordan peterson's claims abt enforced monogamy were unfairly maligned. He made a good point imo.
