I'm trying to re-center the concept of 'rights' and 'freedoms' from the economic & political sphere to the sexual & reproductive sphere, which I see as more fundamental. Genes run deeper than 'property' or 'democracy'.

I've been thinking about this problem in a different way: What is the correct set of values with which to bond groups of people together in order to create stable, functional, sustainable societies across time? Also, when values conflict with each other, which ones yield?
We have three fundamental freedoms: Life (Right to Live), Liberty (Right to Act), Property (Right to Exclude).
Much farther back than that, religion was about transcending our baser natures. Humans have flourished since then. Universal to the societies that have flourished are religious restraint on sex and reproduction.
Outside of choosing sexual partners, there is very little freedom involved in familial matters.
Surely evolution helps provide a causal explanation of our intuitions about rights (and morality more generally). But how can understanding of evolution inform those intuitions? I think evo psyc lends itself to a noncognitivist stance w.r.t. ethics.
