In a Darwinian view, the key freedoms are sexual, familial, & genetic: the freedom to flirt, court, & mate, to choose sexual partners, form relationships, & raise kids, & to settle near other like-minded families. Without those, the other freedoms ring hollow.pic.twitter.com/Cw8cmoM500

I'm trying to re-center the concept of 'rights' and 'freedoms' from the economic & political sphere to the sexual & reproductive sphere, which I see as more fundamental. Genes run deeper than 'property' or 'democracy'.

Historically, parents sometimes influenced mate choice a fair amount in some societies. Prehistorically, not so much, according to evolutionary anthropologists.
