Females evolved to make large gametes called 'eggs'; males evolved to make much smaller and more mobile gametes called 'sperm'. This has been known for quite a while. #anisogamy

Haven’t we discovered the X and Y Chromosomes that are the basis for gender? Or did I just hear the wrong things in High School Biology class?
X and Y are just convenient genetic mechanisms for creating differently sized gametes plus their associated phenotypes and mating strategies.
