Haven’t we discovered the X and Y Chromosomes that are the basis for gender? Or did I just hear the wrong things in High School Biology class?
-
X and Y are just convenient genetic mechanisms for creating differently sized gametes plus their associated phenotypes and mating strategies.

Yes. We don't have to give up a clear definition in bio to make an inclusive world for those whose gender identity doesn't agree with their biological sex. Let people be as they want but don't throw away science in the process.

No one is claiming that an MTF can make eggs or have all of female anatomy. The key scientific questions are limited to how stable the dysphoria / preferred gender is for various groups, and what interventions (hormones / surgery) maximize long-term happiness.
-
Actually, people are claiming that wanting to be a female makes one an actual female.
