The question is more about whether there will be presented any research regarding the larger societal implications and effects of normalizing behaviors that counter the sexual ethics that underpin the parent civilization. Or is it all centered on the participating individuals?
I think the answer to your question is no, the altsex researchers don't usually consider broader civilizational implications. I try to do so in talking about pros and cons of polyamory vs. monogamy in my recent interviews.
