Why not just … ban cigarettes?https://slate.trib.al/d3yiUaM

Not as if we had a decade of failed Prohibition to look to, or even more decades of wasted money and full prisons from the War on Drugs to ponder. I, for one, would immediately take up cigarette smuggling. Cuz if nanny state creates an arbitrage opportunity, I will take it!

The solution is Very Low Nicotine (VLN) tobacco, which has been shown to reduce or eliminate addictiveness. If the FDA were to mandate that all tobacco be VLN, you'd still be able to buy nicotine and tobacco, just not together in the same product.

What do you think creates more tax revenue smoking or vaping? I agree banning anything creates many unintended consequences.

Two arguments against vaping are its a gateway to cigarettes, a real concern, and that we don't know what's in vape oils, easily legislated. Still my parents both died early from smoking related illnesses and I'll take people vaping over that any day.

The more I observe these galaxy brains, the more I'm convinced they *are not capable* of understanding unintended consequences. It's like trying to teach calculus to a flatworm.
