How many 'sugar' relationships are people actually in but never have it put to the test? How many explicit 'sugar' relationships are just an excuse for benevolence as an expression of love from the top and would last for quite some time post-broke? It's complicated.

Which is much more complicated. Is all divorce after sudden lose of employment mean that marriages are transactional? I'd say more likely there's just third variable involvement with SOME of that. I'm not saying gold diggers dont exist, but that's not a reflection on all...

...marriages. Also, it might be a high predictor, but also not mean that losing your job means your spouse will leave is likely. Sometimes things are predictors but that doesnt mean they're "likely."
