I’m very attracted to Christianity culturally, but I’m incapable of accepting the metaphysics. So I remain a kind of secular social conservative.

I find the hypotheses pointless. There’s no physical explanation for our sense of duality. I don’t know what it means exactly, but it may mean that something metaphysical exists. I don’t believe anyone can simulate it in any case. Without it, sims are just mindless programs.

I also like Stephen Wolfram's theory that fundamental reality is essentially digital. It's still turtles (simulations) all the way down. But if true it's a whole new can of worms anthropologically. Which I find super interesting.
