Pinker is terrible, he’s a professional Pollyanna, ivory tower optimist. He calls WW2 a “statistical anomaly” as including it in the stats would ruin his entire argument. The word charlatan doesn’t do him justice.

I’ve hated him for years since reading “Better Angels...” in its awful entirety. Taleb is good on the stats criticism but John N Gray is his greatest critic and the best antidote to Pinker’s Pollyanna nonsense.
