I had the good fortune to attend an exceptionally good selective public high school with great teachers and attentive students. But I know it was not a typical experience.

And that wokeness also serves as a giant filtering mechanism (in the same way a hard organic chem class filters the pre-med population). I was going to be a history teacher until I got into a college of ed class and learned that conservatives/libertarians were not welcome.

Today I work in the private sector and often wonder how many thousands of people share my experience every year. How many conservatives/libertarians who once considered being high school teachers quickly walked away because the college of ed made clear that they weren't welcome?

low academic standards is the not so secret secret for kicking ass on student teacher evaluations in universities. that and showing youtube videos. but sure, teacher evaluations are legit to judge teacher quality, pay raises, & promotion and tenure...
