I find it hilarious that “progressive” social activist types constantly bash the supposed evils of market capitalism yet they do so with the very products of market capitalism like iPhones and MacBooks produced by companies that are unabashedly and rightfully market capitalist.

Those who've only lived under free market capitalism often don't see it's benefits, because they've known nothing else.--like a fish doesn't notice water.

Entrepreneurs also invent problems and sell solutions to problems that aren't important or don't exist.

And the market sorts the wheat from the chaff. Where’s the equivalent for activists? If anything, their domain has incentives misaligned with society. He who’s most emotionally stimulating wins, no matter whether right or useful.

entrepreneurs have a high false positive rate: if activists try to engage & end up seeing 10k 'hey check it out I made this app that solves homelessness" pitches, I can't blame them for disengaging (btw: 'entrepeneurs invent and sell solutions' is just their self image)

"its weird how rarely i notice activists vetting solutions from entrepreneurs" lol

Corollary: When longstanding problems are improving and nearing resolution, activists hysterically distort & exacerbate the situation in an effort to remain relevant. Examples: racism, global poverty, nuclear energy, public safety, crime, urban development.

In some cases, the activists don't "identify" problems; they invent them.
