This is really good news. As a professor and member of @HdxAcademy , I'm confident that the _only_ thing that will get most public universities to support free speech is the threat of losing federal funding if they don't.

Geoffrey, its always seemed to me that the college "free speech problem" is more a matter of culture than literal restrictions (and hence would not be addressed by changes in federal policy). You would know more as a professor - do you disagree?

Most public US universities have many literal restrictions and unconstitutional limits on free speech. These nudge the culture towards intolerance. Fixing rules won't fix the SJW culture, but it will delegitimize it somewhat.

Okay, thanks. I agree that from an authority perspective they might be weakened, but I think the opposite would happen to the culture. As you know, playing victim can be a powerful move. What can be a bigger gift to the "SJWs" than an actual order by the Trump administration?
