Okay, thanks. I agree that from an authority perspective they might be weakened, but I think the opposite would happen to the culture. As you know, playing victim can be a powerful move. What can be a bigger gift to the "SJWs" than an actual order by the Trump administration?
If the SJWs think that they can stoke public outrage by saying 'OMG look Trump is imposing free speech on universities!', they will lose even more credibility...
They will never use the term 'free speech' it will be like 'santioning violence against marginalized groups' or maybe 'normalizing hate on campus'
They will try that, and they'll drink their own cool-aid, but most voters will see right through the rhetoric.
I don't know about public at large, but they can certainly use this to their advantage in college campuses, both among students and faculty. There may be relatively few SJ extremists on campus, but there are many more who hate Trump (who then reflexively support what he hates)
Yes, but this is exactly why free speech advocates won't win the culture war on campuses. It takes exactly this sort of gov't action to get administrators' attention.
