Socialist: someone who opposes regenerative medicine research & longevity treatments because the rich might get to live forever one generation before the poor would get to live forever.

Everyone who advocates funding 'health disparities' research rather than funding regenerative medicine research is implicitly making this argument.

Well, that's a bit of a stretch IMO. You can't really blame the majority of non-super-rich people for wanting to prioritize their present generation's health situation over potential immortality for later generations. Self-preservation instincts are understandably strong.

Why don't they care about the longevity of their kids and grandkids? Seems utterly, deeply, unethically bizarre and selfish to me.

I guess I'd need more information about the POV you are attacking. Are these evil people also against doing *both*? I mean, not everything in the real worlds is a trolley problem.

I meet a lot of academics who think we that 'health disparities' is the number one problem in American health care. Not aging or death themselves. Just modest disparities in when and how they happen.

Why are they so we obsessed in making everything equal, as equal as a grey goo. Being equal is not being just, its atrocious, to be equal you must exclude everything else by definition. Things are never equal, just similar, embrace diversity, don't enforce equality.

This is a straw man. The goal of providing a certain level of health care for everyone is not incompatible with research on a wide range of biomedical frontiers.

Providing healthcare for everyone, regardless of those who choose before it's necessary to purchase, will decrease the quality and increase wait times. Being unrealistic in your aims doesn't mean your right. It just makes you feel better about your stance. Why didn't Obama

This need not be about simplistically designating a specious "number 1" problem. A society and its systems are quite capable of pursuing a wide range of goals in parallel.

You think conquering death and aging will be for everyone? You think it’s even a good idea? Have you even thought thru the implications (not even talking about overpopulation ... imagine the cultural calcification of all those codgers telling us how they used to do it).
