I'm no lefty but I find a strong case in avoiding reproduction when one's socio-economic conditions won't allow to raise a new generation under ever increasing standards.
The 'Progressive Left' really needs to make peace with the fact that promoting 'environmental sustainability' without valuing kids and grand-kids is the road to civilizational collapse and human extinction.

Discouraging breeding of those most concerned about resource consumption and the future is the goal. They want those who don't care to breed because they will demand to be lead by authoritarians because making difficult decisions is something they avoid.
