A brief thread on how the #Oscars seem to be doubling down on a path that will quickly doom them. 1/

I can’t help but think this trajectory began with
#OscarsSoWhite a few years back. Now Hollywood seems to have gone beast mode in wokeness and marginalization. -
If it’s any consolation, the most “woke” and “marginalized” people i know did NOT like Green Book.

My reason is that I refuse to watch a bunch of spoiled hypocrites laud each other and preach to the rest of the country what to do and not to do while simultaneously doing or not doing those things. It's really quite simple.

Why is Green Book PC? You rather see a modern day remake of "Birth of a Nation" win?

Just pay money to see the films you want and the market should gradually reflect that. I personally have never lent much credulousness to the indulgent Oscar drama.

To be fair it’s not just that. Hollywood is consumed with tent pole super hero movies, remakes and sequels. The days of inspired personal filmmaking are long gone. And then all of the Oscar stuff is political. The best stuff right now is streaming.

I feel like Hollywood cares less about responding to US audience desire because they see china’s market as the future - what they should realize is that Chinese audiences are even less tolerant of “white-left”(what they call our PC libs) propaganda than Americans are.
