Back when TV was criticized as the great capitalist "opiate of the masses", scolds lobbied for elite-run public TV as their rent-seeking fix. But hard to see scolds lobbying for a sepearte elite-run public social media today. So what rent-seeking fix will they lobby for?

They'll get corporate HR depts to track employee social media use and punish those who express wrongthink.
