Why are there so few modern examples of dads dressing stylishly? It's like, either you're a cool single hipster, or a dumpy dad, in most ads and media.

My theory is that most men see fatherhood and self development as mutually exclusive. Too many dads stop improving themselves after they have kids.

Theory: this category of signaling is far more important in attracting mates, where it’s obvious & immediate to strangers, than keeping them. Dad jeans on a kind husband and good father > hipster jeans on a jerk. So why bother?
