So, I agree that hyperrealistic VR/AI porn _could_ pose a medium-term existential threat to civilization, as I argued here: https://www.primalpoly.com/s/2007-fermi-paradox-edge-piece.pdf … On the other hand, there's good evidence that current porn is nowhere near as harmful as most anti-fappers assume.

If some version of porntech, which perhaps doesn't exist yet, *could* pose a medium-term existential threat to civilization -- a macro phenomenon -- then I don't think it's off-base to be concerned about incipient indicators of the micro phenomenon.
