But wouldn’t corporations just use IQ tests anyway? I mean, it would allow them cheaper employees. I don’t think the primary function of college is to signal intelligence. Probably it better signals ambition, stability, and conscientious.

I don't know the history, but what you say *could* just push the question up a level. Why is it legally prohibited? If businesses saw a huge benefit to using IQ tests as their main evaluator, perhaps we'd expect that they would have successfully lobbied for its legalization.
