'Social activist progressives' hate the idea of IQ because it's one of the few resources they can't redistribute by force.
You don't believe in latent variables? How about 'health'? 'Happiness'? 'Good character'? 'Reputation'?

Do I believe? Yes, but all those things are problematic to study using factor analysis, and we should be cautious about inferring the underlying structure of such variables on the basis of such analysis. Reducing dimensions with stats does not give any insight into mechanisms.

The problem with IQ and people who promote it is that the people who promote it can't break it. A good measure should be able to be broken at random in many different ways. Much like Nassim has already been broken (and he knows it). You fail the water test.
