Milton Friedman once said that Keynes was actually trolling then his proposal got seriously picked up. Also “trickle-down effect” was a troll (there’s no scientific theory with that name, it was a troll about the free market, then people took it seriously

People now are like “I’ll demonstrate to you that the free market doesn’t work, because trickle-down doesn’t happen” when in fact nobody proposed a trickle-down mechanism in the first place, so of course it doesn’t happen.
