It's really simple: I can't take you seriously when you say the world is literally facing an immediate existential crisis requiring us to do everything and anything possible to combat emissions and -- eek! -- nuclear power is so icky and we can't use it.

Well, we can't rely solely on wind and solar (due to intermittency issues), and we shouldn't rely on gas and coal (because of greenhouse gases). Of the low-carbon alternatives capable of providing the bulk of our electricity in the future, nuclear is the cheapest one.
