It's really simple: I can't take you seriously when you say the world is literally facing an immediate existential crisis requiring us to do everything and anything possible to combat emissions and -- eek! -- nuclear power is so icky and we can't use it.
Amen. Nuclear power is the only viable option for dramatically reducing carbon emissions over the time scale that the #GreenNewDeal envisions.

any climate change plan that does not include expansion of nuclear power is not a real plan. it's just a hope that renewables will become something that they aren't right now - reliable & scalable. scalable's not a word but you know what i mean...

Agreed. Simply increasing nuclear power by a factor of 2 and reducing carbon by a factor of 1 would reduce plant food, er... CO2 by a significant amount over time.

the main issue, it seems to me, is that it forestalls solving the actual problem which is overuse. if we have a new massive surge of power from nuclear energy, we will most certainly find some way to use it, and then in next two hundred years, we will be running outta underground
