I'm just trying to figure out the logistics to building @AOC's railroad across the Pacific. You'll need about 5,000 miles of track built on thousands of pillars each about 12 or 13 thousand feet long. Seems a tad unrealistic but then again I'm no engineer.

'Build the wall!' The Left: 'That's totally unrealistic!' Also the Left: 'Build a totally new transport infrastructure from scratch across the whole country!'

I don't think that's the argument... I think the argument is they don't want to build a wall because they see it as anathema to the values of what it means to be American. And building a transport system IS realistic since we've done it already.

“$5 billion is a giant waste of money. Think of the deficit!” “We’re going to spend over $6 trillion a year over a decade to fulfill our plan”.

You’re being blatantly and pathetically dishonest here. The left doesn’t oppose the wall because it’s unrealistic. But rather because it would be ineffective and isn’t even needed. In fact, it is merely a political device aimed at pleasing Trump’s base and their racist biases.

You're not wrong but most criticisms of the wall are that its pointless.

Is it pointless for Israel? How much illegal immigration did it stop? Even if it stops illegal boarder crossings and doesn't curb overstayed visas, it still has an impact. W/ more secure boarders, if the discussion wants to be had about stronger social nets, compromise is easier

More railroad is totally a reasonable thing to build. It would create jobs, and make travel cheaper and more convenient (especially regionally) for millions of people. It would never completely replace airlines, but having more options is good border wall doesn’t do that.
