No way it can work? And yet here I am, making it work. The people who are good at poly, who have busy professional lives, and who understand anti-poly stigma like we've seen in this thread, don't tend to do interviews for sensationalist news outlets.
I don't think poly is viable for the majority yet, but that could change as poly norms, culture, and education improve. It took civilization quite a while to figure out some 'hacks' that make monogamous marriage work...
