TIL that some universities add the sentence "There is a strong internal candidate" when advertising a position for which there is a strong internal candidate. Seems to me that this sentence saves a lot of people a lot of time and energy. Is there *any* good reason *not* to do so?

"Candidate is tenured professor's son" would save a lot of time but would reveal unpleasant truths.
