Also capitalism solves a lot of problems, so it’s quite possible that they are helping hundreds of millions of people while making hundreds of millions of dollars. Shame if they had to stop doing that just because it doesn’t look like charity.
Agree. The Effective Altruism movement is very aware that free markets are already solving many problems (e.g. global poverty) at a pretty fast rate, and charity efforts should focus on neglected topics, esp. where there are market failures or inefficiencies.
Fight for the forgotten digs clean wells in Africa rather than direct aid. Access to clean water for drinking and farming is huge and helps the locals build sustainable wealth
