Holy shit, do people really overestimate by 30 points on average? That's a full two standard deviations. I wonder what the relationship between actual IQ and the degree to which they overestimate correlates. Something something, Dunning Kruger.

I wasn't sure if I was reading that right. Almost 440 people overestimated their IQ by an average of 30? That doesn't seem right.

On average ppl overestimated their IQ by 30 points?!?!? Were there some insane outliers or something? I mean I know people tend to overestimate their iq, but an average of 2 SDs?!? That’s hard to believe, I must be missing something.

How can people overestimate their own IQ by 30 points, overestimate the IQ of their partners by more than they overestimated their own IQ, and yet still be predicting their partner's IQ with some degree of accuracy? These conclusions make no logical sense.

I'm more shocked by third point. "Degree of IQ compatibility failed to relate to relationship satisfaction significantly." I kind of assumed IQs had to be somewhat close for satisfaction.

More significantly they overestimate their own IQ by two standard deviations.

If I overestimated my IQ by 30 points that would make for an extremely unrealistic 195.
