Mate choice is a determination of potential outcomes while abortion is the negative determination of an actual outcome. By definition, what could be more regressive in regard to mate choice than the nullification of the outcome of your mate choice?

natural selection - not the same as eugenics. but this is sexual selection, which is different. for the record, i find aborting bc of a disability rather appalling too, but isn't sexual selection pretty similar to eugenics? food for thought

Um, no. Mate choice is not eugenics. Eugenics is the attempt (inevitably involuntarily) to perfect the overall gene pool-- not joe schmoe trying to date out of his league.
