People who claim to be interested in personality and psychology look at me blankly when I say Big 5 considerably better than Myers-Briggs, and then rattle off their Myers-Briggs classification.

Yes, but, like astrology, one must explain what people find useful in them (as they do), given the non-empirical basis of the systems. I’d contend it’s that general intuition of range of personal-social traits, ordered into a particular set of categories, has intrinsic appeal.

"MBTI reads like a horoscope" Exactly this. You can read any of the results and apply it to yourself, and all of them paint a very favorable / flattering portrait.

MBTI is a bastardization of Jungian Typology. It says multiple times in ‘Psychological Types’ that the four types aren’t static and are all used by individuals across their life. Moreover the types were derivatives of Immanuel Kant’s writings on thought and judgement.

I agree with most of what you've written here & I responded with a long thread of my own. But, I must quibble with you about Jung's types being derivative of Immanual Kant's writings. A very good book on Jung's development of typology is enclosed.https://books.google.com/books/about/The_Question_of_Psychological_Types.html?id=yXDz5lJVS54C …
