Just spent a few hours at the county clerk's office doing a thing that should have taken 5 minutes. Anybody who thinks the gov't should run American health care hasn't interacted much with the gov't lately.

Have you used Medicare vs pvt insurance? I've spent over 100 hours this year submitting claims & doing paperwork on private insurance for a relative. Private healthcare and insurance is. not. a. free. market. No one lying in hospital has a free choice to take biz elsewhere
I believe @reason has published an article or two over the years about libertarian, deregulated approaches to health care.... The current system is an ungodly clusterfrack.

Germany. I'd even take CZ and RU over this. US healthcare costs are far higher than they have to be because of the structure. It simply doesn't cost this much to provide this sub-optimal level of care. With that said, there is a complication - US pharma R&D is a major driver

Well, I've seen with my own two eyes what happens when you remove gov't from policing and it was, shall we say, inconsistent with libertarian theory. I fail to see why their untested prognostications about how healthcare would work would be any more reliable.
