Jeff this has been going on for a long time. 25yrs ago a new prof at my brothers uni had to apologize before he even started teaching because he refered to his wife as a house wife in school paper interview. Is it getting worse? Will non "pledge givers" be terminated?
The requirement to include a 'Diversity Statement' with every faculty job application, and every tenure & promotion case, is fairly new. The ideology has been there for a long time though.
