Does anybody know a good piece that describes the phenomenology of depression, i. e. what it's like to be depressive, to people who have never suffered from depression? I know several people who are clinically depressed and I'd like to get a sense of what it's like.

Can I have some details? Is it a novel? Non-fiction? A paper or a book?
