My biggest frustration with Freud is that he read Darwin, was inspired by his sexual selection theory, then pretended he'd invented every sexual insight himself, without really understanding evolution. Nietzsche fell into the same temptation to hide his intellectual influences.

Stevens does his damnest to make Jung relevant. The real Jung, like Freud, misunderstood evolutionary theory, and was a cult-type figure more than a scientist. Brilliant dude still.
