Most secular Americans are happy to support religious freedom.... as long as religious people don't actually take their religion seriously enough to let it influence their lives, families, values, or politics.

Religious freedom is essential, but I think that, when religious ppl advocate for policies which make sense only if their God exists, they should be asked to give arguments for that God, rather than treating their belief as a matter of conscience/faith, immune to criticism.

This would assume non-religious people are unaffected by personal bias. Or that, assuming no bias, the secular individual will always be correct about their policy prescriptions. History has proven this false. Religious people can advocate for whatever they want.

Religious freedom means to not have to put up with different faith's trying to control my life. "Religous freedom" to some is misinterpreted as giving them the right to discriminate, and control others. The push back is strictly self defense of true religious liberty.
