Just a thought: Since they relate masculinity to gender, and gender to "psychological, social, and cultural experiences and characteristics" while "sex refers to biological aspects" wouldn't be that any biological influence would be about sex, using their terms? 1/2
They distinguish gender from sex mostly so they can ignore research on sex, including sexual selection theory. It's not a distinction that's drawn in good conscience.
