The triggered snowflake brigade is in full tantrum mode again in response to a great Gillette ad asking conscientious, secure men (most of us) to hold the insecure frat boy types (a few of us) accountable: pic.twitter.com/jm7LdYRok3 How is this even controversial?

It was stupid from a marketing point of view.

It got 9.4 million views so far and sparked a huge amount of online discussion. How is that stupid from a marketing point of view?

Okay, I'll bite. Please explain then how in your opinion such an ad will actually change the actions of those who harass women, or have an impact upon young teen boys, or have a greater impact than the fathers out there who are raising their children right. Please detail
-
I never claimed an ad could do any of those things. I just said I don't have a problem with it.

My only real issue is using consumerism to push social issues. Too much of our identity is sold to us in the things we buy.
-
Agreed it’s not the message it’s the platform that’s the issue.

it seems to suggest roughhousing is in line with toxic masculinity. If we are taking anything
@JonHaidt says seriously in "The Coddling.." we should probably question that. also, not sure if at 1:04 they are implying that its toxic or sexist to think about talking to a girl? -
Yes thought exactly the same

Firstly, both sexes bully. Another scene shows boys wrestling or even fighting. So what. Another, a man wants to go talk to a pretty woman who walked by? As he should.

It would be more effective IMHO if it did not appear to be targeting one race of men as “bad” and other races as “good.” I think that aroma interferes with what is a decent, core message.
