Having kids isn't about whether they bring net benefits to _your_ tiny & transient life. Having kids is about creating your kids' lives & those of their kids in turn. Hedonic individualism is an evolutionary dead end. Pronatalism is the way forward.https://twitter.com/ManMadeMoon/status/1084013378245320704 …

I have 2 kids. 2 1/2 years & 9 months old respectively. I’ll tell you something I never see anyone admit... they are exhausting, frustrating & life-destabilizing. They are rarely fun. Sure, smiles are great, hugs are lovely, but it’s HARD & not obviously a good choice in life.

Everybody should read this book by @bryan_caplan on how to do good-enough parenting once you understand behavior genetics. It's a great antidote to selfish, anti-natalist whining.https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004OA64Q6/

It's not obvious, that having kids brings net benefit to anything.

It's obvious if you ask your kids whether they'd rather exist or not exist.

By the time # 3 came along and we were done, I find myself enjoying those smiles much more than with his brothers. Because I'm taking the time to enjoy those moments of unrestrained joy you only see in 2 year olds. This is not a universal explanation but one mom's observation

If you are anti-natalist I'm not interested in you opinion on topics impacting the future 50-100 years from now. You have actively divested strategically from the future.

You can love your kids and be a great parent without pretending it’s easy and fun. It’s very hard work and we’re all better off if we can admit it without the fear of being shamed.

I go to CrossFit 5-6 or 6-7. Around halfway through the class I question every single choice that lead me to be there. After the class I’m always happy with my choice to go and content with my life. I expect having children to be somewhat a similar experience

Not really. I couldn’t even imagine my life without my girls. The most incredible thing that ever happened in my life. So lucky to have them.
