Honestly, the tweet's nuanced praise of the value of men's push-through attitude while highlighting how it can go awry is a major improvement Problem is they're trying to surrupticiouly pretend that what they put out last week wasn't teeming with anti-men/masculinity sentiment

They completely ignore that when men reach out for help so they don’t have to go at it alone, there is very little or none to be found. We don’t get the same response to our pain that women do.

Meh, I think that’s what they are attempting to change.

This is a weird blowup. We for sure should be (and are) working to encourage men to talk about their problems. I *think* the APA critics believe this, but it's kind of hard to tell amid all this chaos.

It’s like trying to talk the Catholic Church out of Christianity. Good luck with that.

The APA may have gotten too far out of their lane with this latest nonsense. Still early, but it seems like this is arousing some significant pushback from psychology. Unfortunately, effectively explaining their folly can be discounted as "mansplaining"...even if done by a woman.

Div 51 exhibits toxic masculinity. They act like they "must be successful no matter who is harmed." They harm the reputation, credibility and livelihood of the APA. They harm those now deterred from seeking help. They harm those they'll "treat" with this unscientific ideology.

Does anyone actually take _clinical_ psychology seriously, anyway? (vs psychiatry, I think I'd prefer the ones who smart enough get into med school)
-
I wouldn't trust either one as far as I could throw one.
