I disagree with the author on one thing: I do think the geographical boundaries of the West does matter to conclude a definition of a Western Civilisation, but not necessarily its existence.

Let's take the non sequitur that Christianity is a determining part of the Western Civilisation. Christianity originated in Judea, in the Middle East, from a Jewish carpenter as a combination of Judaism, Zoroastrianism and Mithraism, also all from the Middle East.

i honestly think this article still refuses to define western civilization which proves how elusive the term is...assumptions are made here but this is similar to the arguments opposed critics of Western Civ. anyway, pls pick if it’s geographical, religious, language, cultural

historical, philosophical. to have ALL of these & something coherent usually leads to the hyper focus of ancient greece/rome then skipping around until we land around the Reformation or Enlightenment because these are direct influences to North America as we know it.
