The single best answer to illegal immigration is to legalize more of it. If you are law-abiding, you're welcome (and barred from accepting welfare). Walls change where & how ppl enter, the volume not so much, which is mostly a product of home & US economyhttps://twitter.com/EricaGrieder/status/1083167397752786944 …

There are no incentives for either party to have a serious debate about this. They just want to rely on vague feel-good emotionally-driven platitudes.

For starters, a basic question every politician and pundit should get asked is how many people are an acceptable number of immigrants per year. 500,000? 1 million? 5 million? 30 million?

Suggesting that there is any sustainable number other than infinity is now criticisable as racist. I know that the libertarian ideal is that humans freely flow wherever they are best able to live but in the US that ship has sailed given the last decade's growth of entitlements.

It’s why we elect politicians. The standard deviation on this across Americans is all over the place. Referendum needs to have a few choices and immigration needs (and mix of skills of workers) changes every year

Still not clear to me why we don't go after the people & corporations who are hiring these people. Demand reduction should have some significantly measurable impact.
