I recognize the point being made, but it needs to be noted that skill in long range precision shooting and spotting are highly experience and training dependent.
Of course. No one would dispute that. The issue is how fast can you learn to apply your skills under real-world conditions, and how quickly and reliably can you use them under intense, high-stakes pressure.

Is it possible a good spotter has a low IQ? Is it possible a person with high IQ is a bad spotter? IQ equals Talent? Talents needs IQ? A mix of high IQ and Talent is needed to be a good spotter? And if my father was a good spotter and taught me how to spot but I have a low IQ?

Sure, all things being equal I'd prefer my spotter to have a higher IQ. How high is the correlation between IQ and things like: stress management, efficient decision making, and information processing?

I think in something this specialized IQ may not be terribly important. The only bit of g ur want is spatial recognition. I've always thought counter battery fire was pretty magical. Ur judging distance by sound and light and then figuring a projectile arc- that's math on the go

Only though time do you become experienced, which then = skill. I would by far have an experienced member than one with a high IQ but no experience! Its like any trade, experience counts!

So IQ (as long as it's above some reasonable baseline) as a standalone wouldn't crack the top 5 attributes I'd look for in a spotter, but if it highly correlates to some of the things I WOULD look for, then that makes much more sense.
